How Often Should I Change My Truck's Filter ?

Mentioned the truck ‘filter’ all drivers know is the air filter, fuel filter and oil filter three type, as the name suggests is to play a role in filtration and cleaning. The filter is directly related to the engine power output performance, engine durability and fuel consumption rate. As the filter is a consumable product, it needs to be checked and replaced frequently in order to better play the role of the engine. So how often does truck need to replace the filter ?

1. Air Filter

a. Introduce: Air filters are known as the ‘lungs of the truck’, which shows their importance. The main components of the air filter is the cartridge and housing, of which the cartridge is the main filter part, bear the gas filtration work, while the housing is for the cartridge to provide the necessary protection of the external structure.

b. Function: The main role of the air filter is to filter out harmful impurities in the air that will enter the cylinder, in order to reduce the early wear of the cylinder, piston, piston rings, valves and valve seats. It improves the durability of the engine.

c. Replacement time: Under normal circumstances, air filters are changed every 15,000 kilometers or half a year. and every 3,000 kilometers clean the air filter dust. However, if the truck is often driven in a dusty or hazy environment, the replacement interval may need to be shortened to no more than 3 months.

2. Oil Filter

a. Introduce: Truck oil filter in order to make the lubrication system oil flow unimpeded, to avoid impurities scratch parts surface.

b. Function: Its role is to filter out harmful impurities in the oil from the sump to supply clean oil to the crankshaft, connecting rods, camshafts, superchargers, piston rings and other moving parts to play a lubricating, cooling, cleaning effect, thereby extending the life of these parts.

c. Replacement time: Usually, the use of the oil filter cycle is relatively short, about half a year or mileage of 5,000 kilometers or so, the filter will be blocked by some impurities, thus affecting the oil lubrication and the engine work, so the owner in the driving to 5,000 kilometers or half a year when the replacement of the filter is better.

3. Fuel Filter

a. Introduce: Fuel filters have two stages of separation in order to achieve high separation efficiency: an oil-water separator and a diesel filter.

b. Function: The role of the fuel filter is to filter and absorb the iron oxide and water molecules contained in the fuel, reduce the wear and tear of fuel impurities on the engine, and improve engine combustion efficiency.

c. Replacement time: Diesel filters for truck are replaced every 5,000 kilometers or half a year according to conventional standards.

Through the above description, the importance of truck ‘three filters’ is self-evident. We should regularly check the use of oil filter, air filter and fuel filter to reduce the maintenance cost and at the same time bring the truck to its maximum use value.
