What Are The Tractor Truck Saddle Types ?

The tractor truck saddle is an indispensable component for connecting the trailer. During the travelling process of the semi-trailer, the saddle not only bears the load of the whole trailer, but also suffers from the impact load under different working conditions. There are 50#, 2 inch light duty saddle and 90#, 3.5 inch heavy duty saddle. The thicker diameter 90# saddle has more pulling power. According to the data, the 90# saddle can tow semi-trailers up to 100 tonnes in total mass, while the 50 saddle can tow semi-trailers up to 50 tonnes in total mass. What kind of working conditions are these two types of saddle suitable for?

 

1. 50# 2 Inch Saddle

 

a. Loading capacity: 50# saddle can only tow semi-trailers up to 50 tonnes, cannot be overloaded, and is only suitable for lightweight transport. In East Africa, almost all tractor trucks use a 50#, 2 inch saddle to meet the 50 tonne GVW requirement for lightweight transport.

 

b. Working condition: Used for usual road transport as well as for some lightweight cargoes.

 

 

2. 90# 3.5 Inch Saddle

 

a. Loading capacity: 90# 3.5 inch suitable for loading less than 100 tonnes for heavy haulage. In West Africa, like Ghana, Guinea, Mali etc many tractor truck adopt the this model saddle.

 

b. Working condition: Bad roads, mountain roads and mining areas, where the impact on the saddle is more severe, the heavy-duty version of the saddle is very suitable.
