1. Truck Head Saddle Clean Work
a. b. When adding grease for the first time after cleaning the saddle and traction plate, try to add blue, black-grey, brown lithium grease. Plain yellow calcium-based grease is not recommended.
2. Kingpin Wear Inspection
a. In the case of the 90# kingpin, for example, the saddle locking mechanism is unable to compensate for the wear of the semi trailer kingpin by more than 4 mm (the diameter is lower than 86mm) and the traction pin must be replaced immediately.
b. If the 50# traction pin is worn out, the diameter is lower than 48mm, cracks or abnormal damage, it should be replaced in time.
3. Checks Based On Mileage
a. Run about 1000KM must be the saddle, traction plate, traction pin lubricating grease for thorough cleaning and inspection (can be cleaned with diesel fuel) and refill grease. After that, replace the grease and check every 6000-8000KM (when replacing, it must be cleaned thoroughly).
b. Every 40,000KM or if there is loose impact sound when starting or braking, the adjusting screw on the side of the saddle should be rotated counterclockwise to adjust the gap between the saddle locking hook and the traction pin.
